William Cummings Jr

William H. Cummings Jr.,87, widower of Junaita Barker Cummings, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his residence.William Henry Cummings,Jr. was born on April 19, 1925, in Jasper County, Hardeeville, Southcarolina to the late William Henry and Annie Belle cummings.  He was he fourth and last child raised in a family of four children.He joined Mt.Calvary Baptist Church in 1940 and was ordained a deacon in 1949.  He initiated the creation of the Mt.Calvary Baptist Church burial cemetery. Deacon Cummings was active in many  civic and church organizations: Superintendent of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Sunday School, member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Deacons Missionary Association, the Jerusalem Baptist Union, former member of Omar Temple #21, member of Cradle Simmons #360, Knights of Pythagoras, and Prince Hall Free Accepted Masons-Happy Home Logan #125.William H.Cummings, Jr. is preceded in death by his lovely wifeJuanita Baker Cummings. Mourning his death and cherishing the memories are his childred: William (Peggy) Cummings III of Akron, OH;  Sonya (Christian) Penny of Cumming, GA; Ruth (Douglas) Woodley of Fresno, TX; Priscilla C. Sturdivant of Savannah,GA; Demress Bastich Baker of New York; one brother-in-law, Joe (Louise) Barker of New Jersey City, NJ; a special buddy, Rudolph Bush; six grandchildren; four great grandchildred; mamny nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Vistation will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 7-8pm at Stiney's Funeral Home, 70 Stiney Road, Hardeeville,SC.Funeral service will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 11:00am atMt.
