Tonya Lynn Allen, age 57, succumbed to her battle with cancer on Thursday, October 17th ,
2024.
She was a resident of Daufuskie Island, SC, where she’d lived for the last few years of her life.
She was born in Miami, Florida, on December 15th ,1966.
An only child, she was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Linda Arroyo, and her
father, Steve Allen.
She was engaged to Rodel “Odie” Ramos of Rincon, Georgia. Odie stood by her side and
made her life as comfortable as possible during her final battle. Their love was very special.
Tonya worked for Janus Coastal Construction under the leadership of Jeff Fagan and his
wife; whom were very helpful to her during her time of need.
Tonya was extremely outgoing, friendly and had never met a stranger. She had a larger-than-
life personality and a lively social life.
She worked with her close friend, Melissa Davis, beginning over twenty years ago and their
friendship remained strong up until her death. She had relocated to Daufuskie Island to help
Melissa in 2024 and fell in love with the beauty of the island and it’s people.
Having no family of her own, she especially enjoyed the unique “Island Family” community of
Daufuskie Island.
Tonya committed her life to Jesus Christ in 2007, and enjoyed studying the Bible. She
attended the local church at First Union African Baptist Church on Daufuskie Island.
There will be a Memorial Service at the public dock on Daufuskie Island on Sunday,
November 24th , 2024, at 3:30; after the local Daufuskie Thanksgiving Dinner.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Good Neighbor Fund through the local
church; First Union African Baptist Church, or it’s pastor, Aaron Crosby.
Services of comfort have been confidently entrusted to Stiney's Funeral Home.
