Ruby Brown Obituary

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies...She stretcheth out her hands to the poor, yea she reacheth forth her hand to the needy.God gave a precious gift of life to the late Minnie Louise and Edgar Nathaniel Robinson by the name of Ruby Mae, that was chosen by a rear jewel named Ruby Dancy on the Fifteenth day of June in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty nine. On Friday, April 19th at 0205 hrs, God summoned his angels to low down the chariot to let Ruby Mae ride. She gladly stepped on board and bid this dressing room adieu. Ruby was educated in the public schools of Jasper County. At an early age she realized, 'Only what you do for Christ will last,' surrender all she had to give to Jesus and accepted him as her personal Savior. She joined St. Stephen AME Church under the auspices of the late Rev. M.B. Randall. She was a faithful member and served on the Usher board, Pastor's Pulpit Aide, and sang on the church choir until her health failed. As she often said, 'My body is deteriorating, but not my spirit or faith in God'. She labored and gave the fruit of her hands to whoever, whatever and where ever they were needed. he worked at Adventure Inn on Hilton Head, Culinary Tech at St. Joseph Hospital, Savannah, Ga., E. R. Assistant at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Transportation Specialist at Beaufort-Jasper Comprehensive Health services for 19 Y. years. Her latest place of employment was Hardeeville WalMart Bakery.Ruby had such a giving heart, a loving, and caring spirit that she shared with everyone who was blessed to have encounter her presence. She never met a stranger and made avail able food and shelter to all who needed a place to eat and sleep. Finances might not always been readily available, but the love she distributed warmed her heart to do so. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, driving, helping, and caring for others and of course singing. Most of all she loved serving the lord and spending time with her family. She was totally devoted to her children and grandchildren and when God reversed the roles, her children and grandchildren were totally devoted to her until the end. She was an excellent role model and a personality that connected from the very old to the very young. She loved to laugh and have fun, and especially enjoyed life and people. Ruby-Gramme-Mom leaves a very unique legacy of humility, love, giving, understanding, forgiving, honesty, compassion, trust, and strength. Her spiritual walk was truly reflected through her role as she lived and loved.She leaves all this legacy to be cherished by her loving and truly devoted children: (7) Daughters, Pamela Jackson (Leon), Carolyn Staten (Joseph), Hermean Brown (William), Stacy (Russell) Brown-Cotton, Sonja( Michael) Jenkins, & Karen (Omar) Smith all of Hardeeville, SC, Angelita Brown (Columbia, SC); (2) Sons, Fred P. Brown(Hardeeville, SC) & Marion M. Brown who preceded her in death; (3) Sisters, Vivian Ford (Hempstead, NY), Willie Mae Calderon (Hardeeville, SC), Sarah Anderson (Hardeeville, SC); (2) Brothers, Elder Charles (Mildred) Smith (Starke, Fla.), & Harold Robinson (Hardeeville, SC); (3) God Sisters, Ora Bell Young (Hardeeville, SC), Ossie Washington (Hardeeville, SC), & Melissa Jackson (Baltimore, MD); (2) God Brothers, Sinclair Dancy (Hardeeville, SC) & Charles Dancy (New York, NY); (19) Grands, (28) Great Grands, (2) Great-Great Grands, (2) God Children: Jason & Jamie Spann. A multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving and sorrowing friends.
