Pearlie Gadson Obituary

Pearlie Driessen Gadson, 70, slipped into eternal rest at her residence on March, 31, 2013. Visitation will be 7-8 pm Wednesday April 3, 2013 at First African Baptist Church 70Beach City Rd., Hilton Head Is. SC.  Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday April 4, 2013 at First African Baptist Church.Interment Amelia White Cemetery, Hilton Head Is., SC. Pearlie Mae Driessen Gadson the daughter of the late Earline Millerand Abraham & Flossie Driessen was born on September 11,1942  Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  She was known affectionately by friends abd famliy as "Miss Pearl".She received her formal education in the Beaufort County PublicSchools starting at Honey Horn School and later to H.E.McCracken High School.Ms. Pearl confessed Christ at an early age, was baptized andbecame a member of First African Baptist Church where sheserved faithful as an Usher, she was also a loyal and dedicated worker in the kitchen ministry or whereever her services in otherministries were needed.She was employed for many years with the Beaufort Jasper comprehensive Health Services as a Family Health Worker.  Beingemplpyed for 21 years until 2006 retirement from the Crazy CrabRestaurant, but it didn't stop there because of her passion for cooking Ms. Peal went to work with the Boys and Girls Club ofHilton Head.  While continuing to work, she also catered for birth-days, weddings and other special occasions to include the AnnualHilton Head Island Gullah Celebration as Pearl's Gullah Kitchen for17 years.In additional to her cooking skills, she was also a woman of multitalents, including nursing, chauffer, child birthing assistant and child care provider.Her home continued to be the choice for family and friends, for a good meal at any time, especially her annual Father's Day gather-ing.  Ms. Pearl embodied the pure essence of a loving mother, notonly to her children and grandchildren, but to any child who happen to be in her presence.Ms.Pearl was married to the late Albert Murray, Sr. and JohnGadson the blended family was blessed with (6) children.In additional to her parents, one daughter Henrietta (Retta) Browntwo sisters Rose Mervin and Florrie Young, and three brothersHoover Driessen, Charlie and Diogenese Miller Preceded her in death.On Sunday, March 31, 2013 in the stillness of the night shequietly took flight to her eternal home.She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her fond memories, herdaughters, Esther (Michael) Cohen, Sr. of Hilton Head Island, SCand Angialo Miller of Hardeeville, SC, her sons, Ronald (Priscilla)Miller, Sr. of Hilton Head, Sc, Minister Albert (Juanita) Murrary, Jr. of Pritchardville, SC and Richmond Murray of Bluffton,SC, fivesisters, LuCeila Baker, Ida Mae Pery, Margie Driessen, Mary Washington all of Hilton Head and Barbara (Marion) Aiken of Suisub City, CA, eight brothers, Robert Driessen of Richmond, VAJohn Miller of Norfolk,VA, Dannie Miller, Bernard, William (Dorothy),Dan (Yvonne) Driessen, all of Hilton Head, SC, Henry (Claretha)Driessen of Hardeeville, SC, Richard Driessen of Miami,FLnineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren,step-daughter, Evangelist Roshon (kenneth) Speakes; one aunt, RosaLee Driessen; one uncle, Jacob Driessen, one son-in-law, WilliamBrown, one brother-in-law, Sammie Mervin, special caring family and friends, including Louise Cohen, Thelma Jenkins,Bessie Orage, Wilhemena Green, Benjamin and Joseph Miller, Joyce WrightAlbertha (Lee) Mitchell, Louise (William) Murray, Joyce Gadson, ahost of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and caring friendsto include co-workers and the Family Health Workers.
