Maude JonesMrs. Maude Jones,81, slipped into eternal rest on April 7, 2012 atOrangeburg Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg SC. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced ata later date by Stiney's Funeral Home.Maude Christoper Jones, the daughter of the later Samuel and Geneva B. Christopher was born May 27, 1930, on Hilton Head Island, SC. She attended the Chaplin Elementary School where Central Oak Grove Baptist is currently located. Maude grew up andlived most of her adult life in the Chaplin Community.At a young age, she attended church and Prayer Service and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized and became a member of the First African Baptist Churceh where she served faithfully as an usher until her health failed. She workedat the Sea Crest Motel for many years and later at the OysterFactory on Marshland Road and Bluffton. SC. As her health slowly began to improve, she could be seen sitting inher dining room, her kitchen cooking or under the tree in her yardquilting. We will miss her tasty Devil Crabs and her Okra and CrabSoup. She would pitch in to help with food preparation for some of the church's fund raising dinners and family reunions.She was married to the late Leroy "Roy" Jones. Two daughters were born from that union, Sharon and Cynthia. She is preceded in death by her husband, "Roy"; daughter, Sharon, grandson, Nicholassisters: Dorothy and Mamie.Maude leave to cherish her memories four daughters: GenevaMitchell, Ophelia Gree, Cassie Mae Green and Cynthia Jones; one son, Gue (Diane) Christopher, two stepdaughters: Sadie Williams ofSavannah, GA and Elizabeth Washington of Hilton Head Island, SCsixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and twogreat-great-grandchildren: seven sisters: Louise Anderson of SanAntonio, TX, Hattie Green and Naomi (Horace) Parlor of Hilton HeadIsland, SC, Nancy Taylor, Henrietta Walker and Georgia Green, all of Savannah, GA, Sylvia Christopher of Brooklyn, NY: three brothers: Murray Christopher (Geneva), John H. (Veronica)Christopher and Charles Mitchell (Lillian), all of Hilton Head Island,SC; two aunts: Elizabeth Toomer of Bluffton, SC and RebeccaMartin of Cedar Creek, TX: one uncle: Isaac Blake of Atlanta, GA;a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
