Marie T. Grant,75, slipped into eternal rest at MUSC Hospital,Charleston SC on Monday March 18, 2013. Visitation will be held6-7 pm on Sunday March 24, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church1792 Old Charleston Road Hardeeville SC. Funeral service will be12:00 noon Monday March 25, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Hardeeville SC. Interment: Mt. Cavlary Baptist Church cemetery.Marie Ruffin-Grant (75), was preceded in death by her husbandNathaniel R. Grant and she was one of twelve children born onFebruary 13, 1938 to the late Joseph and Mary Ruffin.  She grew up and was educated in Williamston, NC until her relocation toStamford, CT.  While in Connecticut, she furthered her education and received her degree in electronics at Wright Technical School.After her gradution, she attended Upjohn to receive her certification in nursing aide.  On December 19, 1976, Marie andNathaniel along with their children moved to Hardeeville, SC.She joined Mt.Calvary Baptist Church under the tulelege ofReverend Samuel E. Betterson followed by Reverend Dr. DorothyBates.  She served as member of the choir and the missionaryboard until her illness.  On Monday, March 18, 2013, she answeredher heavenly father's call to come home.Marie is survived by her seven children and their spouses:  Becky(Thurmond) Thigpen; Toby (Lillie Mae) Ruffin; Darlene James;Vicky (Albert) Dopson; Gregory (Rosalind) Grant,Sr; Deborah (Harold) Burrison; and Shawn Mauel.  She is also cherished by fourbrothers: William (Margie) Ruffin; Christopher (Carol) Ruffin; Johnny(Anne) Ruffin; Harold (Peggy) Ruffin and three sisters; Esther Joseph; Ethel (Robert) Davis and Vivian (Paul) Powell; and twentygrandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.She ws preceded in death by two sisters: Jane Smith and MarthaThompson; and two brothers; Joseph Ruffin, Jr. and Jimmy Ruffin.
