Malik Abdullah SaffirMalik Abdullah Saffir,63, passed away on December 11, 2012 athis residence in Hardeeville SC. Funeral services are incompleteat this time but will be announced at a later date.Malik Abdullah Saffir,63, Former Baltimore.MD resident,63 slipped into the light on December 11, 2012, at his home in Hardeeville, SC29927. Janaza (Funeral) Service will be held at Masjid Jihad, on December, 13, 2012, at 117 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia,Officiating, Imam Maajid Faheem AliMalik A.Saffir (aka James Stewart Perkins) was born on September29, 1949, Newport News, VA, to Woodrow Perkins (deceased) and McHale Chance (deceased).Malik was a humble man, a giving man, a true and loyal friend to to so many; and a devoted husband,father, grandfather,brother, and uncle.All you had to do was ask and without hesitation he wasthere for you - what a special person.  One of his passions wasswimming and while in high school he was a member of the swimteam and during the Summers in Baltimore one of his partimes was serving as a lifeguard, in the public pool. He graduated from Baltimore City College.  He served in the United States Army as a postal clerk and had the opportunity to be stationed in OkinawaJapan.  Malik came to Savannah,Georgia and met his wife Shaakira Nia Saffir(aka Audrey Lee Bennett) on October 7, 1997,  wherethey became friends and married on September 30, 2000.He worked many years as a clerk for John Hopkins Hospital, andthe Department of Veterans Affairs in Baltimore, Md., before moving to Savannah, Ga where he worked for the InternationalLongshoreman Association, Local 1414 as a longshoreman for 9years.Malik has this saying when I would ask for somthing that reallyresonated with me and that was " You can want for more". I am losing  the best friend I ever had but I know, whatever Allah takes for Allah and whatever Allah gives is for Allah and every  thimg  with Allah has a limited fixed term (in this world).I will deeply miss him and I know so many of you who are readingthis will too.Malik is survived by his wife of 12 years, Shaakira; four stepchildren, Louis E. Geman III and his wife Florence, Laetitia N.Jackson , Lorenza Knight, and Iesha Saffir; his Great niece Miraclehis six grandchildren Louis, Amir, Tariq, Jalen, Jalani, and Amaria(Buttercup); his sister Maggie Hudson of Bethel, NC, his threebrothers Temir Saffir (aka Woodie Perkins) of Baltimore, Allen (moore) Moody/wife Sarah (a best friend), Savannah, GA, and Herman Cannon, Baltimore, Md;his four nieces, Erika Hudson, Deborah (Jessie) Andrews, Evette (Donald) Ward, Paulette(Clifton) Staton, one Aunt Betty Spellman, Greeneville, NC, and one nephew Monte all of Bethel, NC, five sisters-in-laws  Ida(Danny) Atkinson,   Mary (Arthur) Fields, Delores Bennett,Hardeeville,SC, Charlene Armstrong, Dora Bennett of New York City; and four brothers-in-laws Benjamin Johnson, Ross (Jeanette) Bennett, Isaiah (Dawn) Bennett, Herbert (Glendora) Fields from New York City; and the rest of his family and a multitude of friends.The family of Malik Saffir wishes to thank Masjid Jihad, Muslin Brothers and Sisters, Pallbearers, Stiney's Funeral Home, Hardeeville, SC, Sanctuary Hspice, Ridgeland, SC and a host of family and friends for sharing and caring.
