Ledward Ferrell Obituary

Hardeeville SC------Mr. Ledward Ferrell, 91, slipped into eternalrest at his resident on December 28, 2012. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced at a later date by Stiney's Funeral Home.Hardeeville, SC----- Mr. Ledward Ferrell,91, slipped into eternalrest at his residence on December 28, 2012. Funeral services willbe at noon, Saturday at Stiney's Funeral Home.Ledward Ferrell was born 91 years ago to the late Gassie Ferrell Sr.and  Alice Bostisk Ferrell in Pineland,South Carolia.  He attended the public schools of Jasper County.  He left Pineland at an early age.  We can only guess that that he exlored the surroundingcountries, yes he was  adventurous.He settled in Hardeeville, SC around 1950. He married the late Geraldine Simmons Ferrell and the became parents of (10) children.They relocated to Savannah, Georgia in 1960.  He eas employedby Savannah Machine & Foundry Company.After realizing that a few choices he made did not yield a dividend,Ledward decided to make a fresh start, he migrated to New yorkState in 1965 to find work in the apple orchards.  Later he settledin Grand Rapids, Michigan where he started a new life and new family.  He was employed at Butterworth Hospital for over twentyfive years.  Ledward always kept in touch with his famly, manyof his childredn lived in variuos states and he made his way acrosscountry to visit everyone.You might sat that Ledward was lasways active, even when Alzheimer disease ravaged his mind, her could still cut a rug with his son-in-law Abraham and sing "I am rolling with my henry".In 2008 his daughter Viola had a drem which revealed he was indeplorable state.  She followed her dream and made her way to Michigan to rescue her Dad and bring him back to Hardeeville, SCHe enjoyd taking vacation trips with her and making his way toHardeeville PMDC.  He knew Pastor Paul Burney would call his name every Sunday and welcome him to the service.  Viola and her husband took care of him until her untimely demise.Although his sight was extremely poor.  I am Sure he knew thatthe one who rescused him was no longer with him, he realizedthat the familiar and sweet voice was now silent and three monthslater he decided to be with his loved daughter again.  OurPatriach and out comedian is gone but never forgotton.  He has certainly left a legacy and a HUGH and loving family.  Rest inPeace DAD!!!!Ledward was predeceased by his parents, his wife Geraldine, 6 brothers, a daughter Viola and step-daughter Saudra Jean.Survivors are: Sons,Johnnie E. Ferrell (Albertha) Jacksonville, FLRev Randy Ferrell (Bonnie) Orlando,FL and Anthony Rogers, GrandRapids, MI. Daughters: Mary Davis, Holly HIll, FL, CorethaHamilton, Queens, NY, Doretha Capers (Louis) Pooler, GA, Debra Johnson (Floyd) Savannah,GA Jeanette Wingster, Bernette ChaplinSavannah, GA, Bettie Ferrell, Hardeeville, SC, Brenda Harden (Vinnie) Snellville, GA, Paricia Andrews, Atlanta, GA., Dorothy Ferrell, Savannah,GA, Stepson, Deacon Lee Heyward, Savannah, GA.,soecial  friend Clara Pulliam, Grand Rapids, MI special daughters: Melissa and Monica Pulliam, Grand Rapids, MI. Onebrother, Gassie "Junior" Ferrell, Tacoma, Washington. Two sister:Dorothy Dorsey (Walter) New Oeleans, LA and Lessie M. ColemanSyracuse, NY. Sisters-in-law: Kerelene Moore, Ivory M. Simmons,Ollie M. Ferrell, Naomi Ferrell, Ruth Adams and Patricia Adams.COUNTLESS grandcgildren,great grand's, greater grands, nieces,nephews, cousins and friends.  A very special granddaughter and caretaker La Stella (Neeke) Garvin.
