Profile of Life"To everything there is a season, and to every purpose under the heaven."Joseph Washington was born to the late Troy and Mary Washington on November 25, 1930, in Hardeeville, South Carolina.His education and background began in Jasper County PublicSchools. Afterwards he went to Voorhess School in Denmark, South Carolina. From there, he moved to Freeport, Long Island, NY, where he attended high school. After graduation, he wasinducted into the United States Army on Februray 11, 1957, where he served until his honorable discharge as a Corporal.After leaving the United States Army, he then became employedwith Leumex General Medical Company in Wyndance, LongIsland, NY. After leaving Leumex Coompany, he began employment with Metropolitan Transportation Authority(MTA), where he was a conductor and retired after 20 years of service. He was a faithful member of Fisher Chapel UnitedMethodist Church of Hardeeville SC. He leaves to cherish, his wife Earlene; three children: ElliottWashington (Marilyn) of Virginia Beach, VA, Steven Washington(Daphne) of Charlott, NC and Danielle Leonard; four grandchildrensix step-children; two step-grandchildren; a host of cousins, andother relatives and sympaathizing friends.
