Mr. Joe Wilkerson,76, slipped into eternal rest on Saturday,October 12, 2013, at Life Care of Hilton Head, Hilton Head Is. SC.Brother Joe Ralph Wilkerson was born March 13, 1937, to the lateLatiesha Wilkerson and Hope Colbert. He departed this life on Saturday, October 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his daughterm Linda Canty; three brothers, Hope Colbert II, James H. Wilkerson, And Leroy Wilkerson; seven sisters, Thelma Prescott, Eloise Wilkerson, Virginia Ann Robinson, Lois Johnson, Nathaniel Wilkerson, Frankie L. Colbert, abd Evelyn Wilkerson. Brother Joe was educated in the local schools of Statesboro, Georgia. He relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey at an early age. He was employed as a truck driver and also endeavored in several other professions. While in Elizabeth, New Jersey he met the love of his life, Hattie Mae Murray. Because of health issue they relocated to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. They were joined in holy matrimony on October 10, 1990. They desired a closer walk with thee, therefore they accepted the Lord as their Savior, and Joined the Evangelistic House of Prayer, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina under the leadership of Apostle Elijah Murray. Being led by the Holy Spirit they later joined Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Hilton Head Island, SC. His legacy of love will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Hattie Mae Wilkerson; three sons: Dwayne (Dee) Jackson of St. Paul,MN, Patrick (Pauline) Jackson of Meter,GA and Terry (Sandy) Jackson of St. Paul,MN; one step-daughter Dana Murray of Newark,NJ; one sister, Joann Wilkerson of Elizabeth,NJ; three brothers-in-law: John (Susan) of Almond Beach,FL, Elijah (Bernice) Murray of Hilton Head, SC and Douglas (Yvonne) Murray of Early Branch,SC; five sister-in-law: Carrie (Kenneth) McDaniel of Gaithersburg,MD, Gladys (Solo) Graves of Bethesda,MD, Susan (Willie) Williams of Varnville,SC, Edna (Leroy) Taylor and Mary Johnson of Early Branch,SC; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
