Interment:10:00 am Monday September 2, 2013 at Beaufort NationalCemetery, 1601 Boundary St. Beaufort SC.Mr. James Edward Mckenzie was born September 1, 1945 to thelate Raleigh and Lillie Rose Waters Mckenzie in Hardeeville SC.He departed this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. He ispreceded in death in death by three brothers: Johnnie Scott,Lanier, and John Mark Mckenzie.As a young man, James accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.He was baptized at Arm Oaks Baptist Church in Tillman, SC.,where he attended Sunday School and church. James waseducated in the Jasper County School System. He graduatedin 1963 from Jasper High School in Ridgeland SC. Aftergraduation, James relocated to Brooklyn, NY. He served in theUnited States Army. He also retired from the New York TransitAuthority.On June 1, 1971, James was united in Holy Matrimony to FlorineBeckles Mckenzie. They shared 45 wonderful years of marriagetogether. From this union they had three children; one daughterCelina Evelyn Mckenzie, preceded him in death; two sons, EarcEverette (Michelle) Mckenzie of Valley Stream, NY and MichaelBernard Mckenzie of the home.James loved his family dearly and his many, many devotedfriends. He also loved caring for his lawn, his fun-loving dogs,and he also had a passion for hunting.In 1996, James and family relocated to his birth place, Hardee-ville, SC. Holding fast to his faith and belief, James joinedOvercoming Faith Ministries, in Savannah, GA., in 1977, wherehe served as audio technician and was a faithful member untilhis health began to fail him.Mr. James Edward Mckenzie leaves to cherish his preciousmemory, his loving and devoted wife, Florine B. Mckenzie; twosons: Marc (Michelle) of New York and Michael Bernard of thehome: two sisters: Barbara (Albert) Lee of Columbia, SC andMary Wiggins of Hardeeville, SC.; two grandchildren: Trevorand Tamryn Mckenzie of New York; three brothers-in-laws:Alfonso (Gwen) Beckles of Alabama, Bernard (Darlene) Becklesand Rodney (Cherly) Beckles, both of California; three sisters-inlaws; Karen Kleen of Virgin Island, Suzanne Branford of Georgiaand Thomasa Mckenzie of South Carolina; a special cousin,Evon Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
