God called his name and he quietly answered.Mr. Henry Johnson,Sr., a native of Levy, South Carolina was bornMarch 31, 1926, to Lawrence and Amanda Johnson. He waseducated in the public schools of Jasper County.He was united in matrimony to Edna Mae Green on July 19, 1947.To this union 10 children were born. Henry was a member of theMacedonia Baptist Church.Henry retired from the ILA, (International Longshorman Association), Local 1414. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and friend to all. He loved his family away form home (Local 1414), all people all people and of course his lovefor animals, and being a captain of the ship everywhere he went. To Know him was to love him. His motto,"You can loveme or you can hate me," I am still happy. He loved gospelmusic and would travel near and far to hear them sing.On Sunday, September 18, 2011, at 11:20, Henry departed this life in ICU of Memorial Medical Center.He leaves to cherish loving memories eight daughters: Ruth J. Ford, Rebecca J. Brown (Dorian), LaVern J. Williams (Earl), Mary J. Ford (Nathaniel), Sally J. Ford, Oridell J. Dunham (Gary), Gail J. German (Eugene) and Angela Johnson: two sons: Henry Johnson, Jr. and David Bright (Shirley): two adopted sons, Ronald Williams and Matt Graham; one stepsister, Emma Williams; two sister-in-law: Julia M. Bowers and Gladis Rivers; one brother-in-law, Benjamin West, Sr.; 30 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; special nephews: Freddie West,German Johnson, Ronald Gibson, Leroy West and Joe Gibson; a host of nieces,nephews, and cousins, including Catherine Taylor, Harry Campbell, and Marie Combs of Dover, DE, and friends
