On April 23, 1920, Freddie Edwards was born a twin to the late Paul and Eugenia Edwards. His twin sister EDna Mae Edwards preceded him in death. He was educated in the Philadelphia PublicSchools. At the earry age of 14 his family relocated to Hilton Head,South Carolina.On February 2, 1941, Freddie was united in holy matrimony to Arline Gadson EDwards, who preceded hin in death. This union lasted 69 years. They loved and nutured one daughter, MargueriteChappelle, who preceded hin in death, and one son, Robert Owensof Philadelphia, PA.He was faithful member of ther Gospel Temple Baptist Church ofPhiladelphia, PA. Later in life he moved to Bluffton, SC and joinedThe West Broad Seventh Dat Adventist Church in Savannah, GA.Freddie Edwards was affectionately known as "Granddaddy andPop-Pop." He was emplpyed with the Philadelphia SanitationDepartment and retired after 30 years.ON Wednesday, May 9, 2012, God in His glorious and infinited wisdom called him home.He leaves to cherish in memory one son, Robert Owens of Chester,PA: six grandchildren: Deborah (Julius) Moses of Bluffton, SC, Rita(Kevin) Jessup, Sandrs (Keven) Jacobs, Arline Chappelle Towsend, Robert Owens, Jr and Marlon Owens, all of Philadelphia, PA; fifteen great-grandchildren; six-great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Master B. Downey of Bluffton, SC; two sister-in-law: Victoria Gadson of Philadelphia, PA and Jeanette Gadson ofAtlanta, GA; three nieces: Virginia Hutton of Miami, FL, RuthannBullard of Manhattan, NY and Louicille Roberts (Tiny) of Miami,Fl;three cousins: Willie Owens of Bluffton, SC, Jannie Owens Graysonof Savannah, GA and Stella Owens of Philadelphia, PA; a host ofother family members and friends.
