Campbell transisioned fron=m labor to reward peacefully on Sunday, June 9th 2013 at Candler General Hospital with his loving family at his side.Franklin was born on February 4, 1946 to the late Solomon "Bubba"Campbell, Sr., and Margaret Susan Young Campbell on Hilton HeadIsland, SC. He was the grandson of the late Solomon and JuliaCampbell and Wesley and Mattie Anderson Young. Franklin and his siblings were raised and nurtued in a Christian home filled with loveand respect. He was educated in the Beaufort County public school system and a 1965 graduate of M.C. Riley High School. Shortly after graduating, Franklin joined the United state Air Forcewhere he proudly served as a Personal Clerk and Secuity PoliceOfficer. He dutifully served his county during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged in 1974.Franklin was an easy-going person with a big heart. He was aloving and caring person who truly enjoyed spending time with hisfamily. "Family" was the main focal point in his life. He was alwayswilling to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Franklin enjoyed spending time wth his nieces, nephews, and cousins, and for several years transported them back and forth to Savannah for school. Franklin enjoyed traveling and driving. They were his favorite pastimes.Franklin married the love of his life on September 26, 1981. He and Rose Singleton Campbell od Savannah,Georgia were united in holy Matrimony and their love has been blessed by God for the past 31years.Accepting Christ as his personal savior and remembering the Christian values his parent instilled in him, Franklin joined FirstAfrican Baptist of Hilton Head with his wife and son Stephen in 1985, where he remained a faithful member. Prior to that , he attended Central Oak Grove Baptist Church on the Island.Franklin retired from Dolphin Head Golf Club in December 2012 aftermore then 20 plus years of service. He was dedicated employee and admired by many for his speed and quickness to get things done. Subsequently, that earned him the nickname "Speedy" at work and definitely at home. He got things done so quickly, often-times, before anyone could blink and eye.Franklin was affecttionatly known as "Papa" by his grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Anyone who knew Franklin knew that he l lived for his grandchildren and he adored each one of them. He would often take them on vacation and always looked forward tobabysiitting or spending quality tine with them. He was such a great caretaker of them all. "Papa" was and always will be the love of their lives. Toward the end of his journey, it would bring asmile when one of his grandchildren visited him or he saw a picture of them.Franklin was a great family man and his earthly presence will be missed tremendously. We truly thank God for blessing our lives with him for 67 years. The work he has done on Earth exemplifies the genuind love he showed towards his family and all others.Welcoming Franklin into Heaven are his parents and grandparents;son, Stephen Tayon Grubbs; brothers: Phil and Arthur Lee Campbel; father-in-law: Mr. Daniel Singleton, mother-in-law: Mrs.Mariah M. John); son: Kenneth Campbell; siblings: Mrs. Cassie Ma Frazier, Solomon Campbell, III(Della), Samuel Campbell, Donald Capmbell (Rosa), Wesley Campbell(Carrie), Henry Campbell (Jennifer), John Campbell (Angie), Gardenia Campbell, Julene Johnson (Johnnie) and Gloria Uhom(Raymond); sisters-in-law: Emily Bryant (col (Ret.)
