Interment: State cemetery Hwy 46 Hardeeville.Elizabeth Washington-Davis, "Sister",daughter of the late Reverend Samuel and Sarah (Payne) Washington, was born on December 24,1919 in Hardeeville, South Carolina. On Monday evening, June 4,2012, at Life Care Center in Hilton Head Island, SC, a sweet, beautiful angel was rewarded her crown and passed this life untoher peaceful rest in Heaven. "Sister" was educated in the public schools of Jasper County, andwas well known for her cooking and hospitality throughtout the lowcountry. She was also a domestic engineer for many years throughtout Hardeeville and Hilton Head Island, SC.She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an eary age and became a dedicated member of St. Stephen AME Church, where she served as the President of Floral Club, cook on the Kitchen Committee to prepare for various church events, and the church custodian for many years until her health failed. "Sister" enjoyedserving and working for the Lord.In 1938, she was join in holy matrimony to the late Wilson Davis ofWalterboro, SC, and to this union five children were born, however,a son, Staff Sgt. Charles W. Davis, preceded her in death, alongwith her siblings, Troy (Mary) Washington, Nathaniel (Leola) Washington, Evelyn (John) Blackshear, and Samuel Washington, Jr."Sister", as many affectionately called her, was kind-hearted, giving, loving and a family oriented person who would serve punchto neighborhood kids for ten cent, homemade ice cream, chocolate cake, sweet potato pie, dressing for Thanksgiving and New Years. Her favorite saying, "Child, just keep on living."She leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons, Jerome (Martha)Davis and Julius Davis, both of Hardeeville, South Carolina; her daughters, Cora Mae Aiken and Georgia Ann Segar both ofHardeeville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Davis of Columbia, SC:three sisters-in-law, Ossie Washington of Hardeeville, SC, JesserineBright of Walterboro, SC, and Floral Bell Stevens of Denmark, SC; special granddaughters who assisted during her illness, VernitaGarrett, Sheila Mitchell, and Yolanda Aiken, all of Hardeeville, SC;15 wonderful grandchildren, 25 beautiful great-grandchildren, special great-grand's: Kyrell and Kyrin Jamison; a very specail cousin, Lois Deaton, Pooler, GA; a devoted and long time special friend, Gladys Hopkins: a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
