Dwayne Chance Obituary

 Life Reflections"The Lord is my light and my salvation,whom shall I fear".On March 27, 1980, a handsome, bouncing baby boy was lovingly received to the world and named Dwayne Lamar Chance by his proud parents, Cheryl Chance Dopson(Martin)and Billy Swinton, Sr., in Beaufort, SC.  At the  age of thirty-one, surrounded by his family, Dwayne slipped away peacefully on November 26, 2011 in Charlotte, NC.As a youngster growing up, Dwayne developed a great love forsports. He thought he was "cool" when he played sports so hisgreat grandmother nicknamed him, "Cool Man."  His friendsaffectionately called him "D", "Cool Breeze", "Chance" andmany other nicknames.Dwayne was educated in the public schools of Beaufort andJasper Counties. He graduated from Jasper County High Schoolin the class of 1998. Dwayne's classmates and friends will always remember him making a mark on the number "7"inJaguar football. He was also a member of the varsity basketballand weight lifting teams. Unpon graduation he attendedFayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC and Johnson C.Smith University, Charlotte, NC. He later earned a barberingcertificate from Hairstyling Institute of Charlotte, Inc.Dwayne was christened at Zion Oak Grove Baptist Church,Ridgeland, SC and later became member of St. Stephen A.M.E.Church, Hardeeville SC.A devoted son, brother, father, and friend, Dwayne will be remembered for his unique personality, eye for fashion, a love forclassic cars, and his amazing "kool aid" smile.Dwayne leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted and loving mother, Cheryl (Martin) Dopson; father, Billy Swinton, Sr., a son:Jayden Chance, Ridgeland, SC, two daughters: Saniya Chance andDejah Threatt, Charlotte, NC; a godchild: Desjon"D" Fraser, Ridgeland, SC; four sisters: Denise Dopson, Charleston, SC, Tabatha (Marshall) Frazier, Bahrain, Brionna and Saleah Swinton,Rincon, Ga; five brothers: Antwan Chance, Columbia, SC, Demetrius and Devn Swinton, Ridgeland, SC, Billy and Jamal Swinton, Hardeeville, SC; grandparents: Billy Chance (the late Minnie), Johnnie Dopson, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Swinton, SR., all of Ridgeland, SC; Wesley Dopson, Sr., Hardeeville, SC; nieces: Jayla and Ja'Miaya Swinton: nephews: Messiah and Demauri Swinton;god parents: Rosa D, Jackson, Savannah, Ga  and State Representative Dr. Curtis Brantley, Ridgeland, SC; godsisters; Elicia Mouzon, Ridgeland, SC; god brother: Harold White, Jr, Ridgeland, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and a loving and caring companion, Matisa Jenkins of Charlotte, NC.
