Clifford Banks Obituary

Clifford John Banks, 72, of Ridgeland, SC, passed away unexpectedly on April 29th, 2024. Cliff is survived by his wife, Debbie, his two children JeriAnn (Steve) and Jon (Deborah), his 5 grandchildren, Magnolia, Amalia, Thomas, Henry, and Violet, his sister Ann (Tom) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cliff was born on January, 31, 1952 to Clifford and Helen Banks in Bound Brook, NJ. He graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1970. After training in HVAC, he worked for Somerset Hospital where he met his future wife. After they were married in 1978, he then began working for Educational Testing Services in Princeton, NJ. Cliff worked as their Operating Engineer for over 35 years until he retired in 2018. Cliff and Debbie called Pennington, NJ home for over 23 years until moving to Florida in 2019 and then most recently South Carolina in 2023. Cliff is most known for his love for God, his service in his church and community, compassion for all and seemlngly unending strength. A gentle man who was quick to help, lend a listening ear and offer creative solutions. Cliff was an active member at his church, Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, Belle Mead, NJ from the moment he first believed in 1977. He served as trustee, deacon, went on several missions trips to Venezuela and Thailand, built many structures for the churches Drive thru Nativity, and was often found in the kitchen cooking for many of MEFC’s events over the years. Cliff, could often be found helping in his local community through serving as an Assistant Leader for the Boy Scout Troop 1776 and events through the Hopewell Valley School District. He also was a participant at his local AA chapter, often acting as a sponsor and support person, while he continued his own journey towards 35 years of sobriety.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am on July 6th, 2024 at MEFC, Belle Mead,NJ.
