Carrie Young Obituary

Carrie Young,76, peacefully slipped into eternal rest on Friday March 7, 2014 at her residence. Visitation will be 7-8 pm on Friday March 14, 2014 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 467 Macedonia Church Road, Hardeeville SC. Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Saturday March 15, 2014 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Olive Memorial Church Cemetery Hardeeville SC. On Friday, March 7, 2014, at her home in Levy , SC, the Master called Mother Carrie Bell Young home from labor to unto eternal rest. As she departed this mortal world, she shall be missed from the family circle, church family and from her community. Mrs. Carrie Bell Young was born in Beaufort County on January 21, to the late William and Harriett Green of Hardeeville, SC. She attended Jasper County School. Mrs. Carrie Bell Young was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Joe Young. In this union seven children were born. She was employed for a number of years as a housekeeper until her health begin to fail. She enjoyed shopping, coordinating outfits, and fishing. Mrs. Carrie Bell Young became a member of the House of Prayer for All People for many years, then she moved her membership to Macedonia Baptist Church under the esteem leadership of the Rev. James Jenkins, Jr., where she served as an usher. Mother Carrie Bell was a very bold and outspoken person, but as time progressed she became very quiet in spirit and did little talking. She loved her family and always gathered them together especially on holidays. She was a  Godly woman, kind and giving of herself and her resources. She enjoyed her church family immensely and worked faithfully for the Lord until her health begin to fail. She was devoted, caring and LOVING woman of God. We shall miss her but looking to greet her in heaven where on farewell tears are shed. Mrs. Carrie Bell Young was predeceased by her parents, William and Harriett Green; husband, Joe Young; twelve siblings, and her oldest son, Melvin Green. Mrs. Young leaves to cherish fond memories three daughters: Margie Stevenson, Willie Mae Brown (Vain Sr.) of Hardeeville, SC, Valerie Jones (Willie), of Sanford, FL; three sons: Douglas Young (Beverly) of Fayetteville, NC, Deacon Daniel Young, and Bernard Young of Hardeeville, SC.; a grandson whom she raised as a son, Vain Brown, Jr. (Courtney) of Ridgeland, SC; a goddaughter, Detra A. German; one brother-in-law, Eugene Young (Mable) of Pooler, GA; two sisters-in-law: Lillie Mae Riley and Rebecca Young of Hardeeville, SC; twenty grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, a dear friend, Ms. Carrie Bell Knighton; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
