1923 Obituray 2011Deacon Asbury Young,Jr., son of the late Asbury Young Sr, andMary Norton Young was born August 9,2011, in tilman SC.Asbury attended Jasper County public schools. At an early age, he assepted Chirst as his personal Savior and was baptizted in 1938.He served diligently in the church until his illness. He served diligently on the ussher board and later as Treasurer and Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the Masonic Happy Home Lodge #125 in hardeeville SC. He was employed by SaylerMarine Company in Savannah, GAa until he retirement in1988.On Febuary 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to the late Wilhemenia Mitchell-Young. He was now faced with the task ofrasing his children without the assistance of his wife. With faith and strenth in God, he was able to dothode thing that seemed like only a mother could do. He instilled in his children the same Christian beliefs and values that he and Wilhemenia had for their children. His children areblessed, because he has been Blessed.He was a quite man, a Christian man, a hard working man andthrough his illness, he did not lose his faith. Just like one of hissongs, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," he is still holding on to those precious words.On Thursday, July 21, 2011, he was summoned to eternal rest at Hilton Head Hospital, Hilton Head Is., SC.He leaves to cherish in his memory, four dauthers ; Ann Youngand Dorothy Young of Hardeeville SC Deborah Young of AtlantaGA, Glynis Young-Nathan of Ridgeland SC and one daughterwho preceded him in death, Annette Young: five sons; RobertMitchell (Lillie) of Iselin NJ, Thurmand Mitchell (Rosa) of Rahway NJ, Evone Mitchell Juanita) of Hardeeville SC, Dr. Jimmie Young (Phyllis) of Williamstown NJ and Calvin AsburyYoung of Hardeeville SC. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Doris Young Mack of Hardeeville SC, three stepsisters;Mrs. Lottie Treadwell of Rahway NJ, Mrs. Lucille Smith and Mrs.Sallie Henderson of Philadelphia PA; a special friend, Stella Aiken; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two greatgreat grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and otherrelatives and friends.
