Arline Farris,78, slipped into eternal rest on Feb. 27, at her residence in Hardeeville SC. Sunset Memorial service will be 4:00 pm Saturday March 8, 2014 at 128 Deerfield Villiage Hardeeville SC. Arlene was the first born child of Henry Brewer, Jr. and Inez Brewer on Febuary 2, 1938 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. On February 27, 2014, she was called to her final resting place by God. Arlene was raised in Pittsburgh and attended Frick Elementary School, Mount Alvernia Academy and Westinghouse High School. While growing up she created a multitude of lifelong friendships. She was a daughter, mother, sister, wife, aunt, grandmother, mentor and a special gift from God. God blessed Arlene with a talent of caring for others which is rare. She never hesitated to open her home to friends and family that needed a place to stay. Her nursing career began as a nurse's aide in Pittsburgh. Moving to Cleveland, Arlene continued her training at St. Vincent's Charity Hospital sterilizing instruments in the operating department. After two years of training and certification she was hired at Cleveland Clinic Hospital as a Surgical Technician in the Orthopedic Operating Department. After several years in Cleveland and with her youngest son Ray Edmond, Arlene moved to California and joined her two oldest children Denise and Edward and worked at Cedar Sinai Hosptital. Arlene was sought after and employed by several Plastic Surgeons in Beverly Hills. While living in Los Angles she was focused on her family, as well as a member of the Usher Board at City of Angles Church. With retirement came another change and she visited South Carolina. Wanting to leave the hectic pace of Los Angles she moved to Hardeeville. Soon after relocating she became involved with the after school program for children in Deerfield Village. Arlene also became active with the Jasper County Neighbors United as Program Coordinator, as well as other community events. Arlene also worked part-time at Jasper County Department of Health & Human Services. With ongoing illness, she did not want others to worry about her will being. Arlene had an iron will coupled with her pride and determination which helped her overcome nearly every obstacle she faced. Many of Arlene's proudest moments revolved around her family. Arlene leaves to cherish her memories; her three children, Denise Yvonne, Henry Edwards and Ray Edmond, her Mother, Inez Mimms, Sister Sandra Harris, Aunt Honey, Grandsons Walter and Ravon, Great Grandchildren, Ashley, Sydney, Steven, Davon, Chase and Joseph. Arlene is also survived by her Niece Miesha, Great Nephews and a host of cousins and many friends from the North to South, East Coast to the West Coast.
